Acupuncture Treatment
Acupuncture is a widespread alternative healing method that has been in use for over two thousand years. The practice involves using small needles to create painlessly small punctures in various points around the body – these punctures are believed to cause reactions that speed up self healing and alleviate uncomfortable symptoms.
There are many different types of acupuncture treatment techniques, all of which serve different purposes and solve different problems. Any problem you have, whether it by physical, mental, or emotional, has a link that can be helped through acupuncture.
There are acupuncture treatments for fibromyalgia, fertility, foot pain, facial acne, depression, and pretty much everything you can think of. Today in the west, it is especially common to see acupuncture used for pain relief. The theory is that there are two main factors in determining treatment – points and meridians. There are twelve meridians that focus on different organs of the body, such as the lung, the stomach, the spleen, the kidney, the heart, and the liver. Each of the meridians has many points that are for more specific treatments.
Those undergoing acupuncture treatment are first put through a simple diagnosis. This sometimes is similar to modern diagnosis techniques, although more traditional practitioners examine the face and tongue, while inquiring about chills or fever, sweating, hunger, thirst, taste, and other conditions. This allows the practitioner to find “patterns of disharmony” and determine what meridian and what point needs to focused on. Many times, multiple points are recommended for a single treatment session.
Acupuncture treatment is an effective method for getting rid of many different ailments. Although some are quick to discount it because of its traditional nature, it has many benefits and is now used in western medicinal practices on a regular basis. If you are interested in giving it a try, there are practitioners in nearly every major city around the world.
