What is Reflexology’s mysterious power to heal and correct problems throughout our bodies? You might first wonder what exactly is Reflexology?

Reflexology works with correcting the bodies problems through adjusting energy flow, ease of movement, and reducing stress. The amazing thing, all of this is done by applying the therapy to only the hands and feet. How can a treatment which is only working with the hands and feet have an effect on back pain, headaches, and a variety of other physical ailments?

To start with you need to understand a few important ideas. First, there are sympathetic nerves which run through the hands and feet which affect almost every other part of the body. Secondly, in Chinese medicine the feet and hands are seen as gateways to the free flow of life energy, or Qi. When the Qi is blocked the ailments can affect the entire body. As with acupuncture, Reflexology works to restore the energy flow and balance, helping to remove the pain and problems of the body. There is one other important element to consider.

Our third point, consider the usage of both your hands and feet. They are the centers of our daily activities and stresses. What our hands and feet experience are carried throughout our bodies. Clasp your hands tightly, and feel the stress which occurs in other parts of your body. Stand up and grip your toes tightly into the floor. Feel the tension generated in your body. These two parts of our body control much of our life experience, giving us mobility through our feet, and the ability to use tools, and express ourselves through our hands. When these portions of our body are in pain or tense, they affect our entire being.

Reflexology can work in helping with all three of these critical areas. The nerves can be treated, and the energy flow restored to allow our bodies to function properly. Tension and aches can be taken from our feet and hands, which results in reducing the pain and stress throughout a large portion of our body.

Some proponents of Reflexology claim fabulous healing properties. While it may be possible through correcting these functions of your body to have great improvement, to ignore other forms of treatment from your medical doctor would not be recommended. Reflexology is a powerful assistant to traditional forms of medicine, and can aid relieving the stress and tension of recovery, aiding in faster healing. If you do research of medical studies you may find tests showing there were little benefits from Reflexology. This is due to the tests being ran to try to prove or disprove the overzealous healing claims made by some individuals. When Reflexology is kept in the proper perspective as a method to enhance health, and to aid in treatment, it can be powerful.

What is Reflexology? It is a form of alternative medicine and massage for your hands and feet, which can produce amazing benefits for your wellbeing. By combining it into your normal lifestyle, or in addition to traditional medical procedures you can gain tremendous benefits.
